The Police Department of Environmental Crime Prevention and Control, Ho Chi Minh City Police is currently working with the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and related units to investigate two cases of smuggling of tens of tons of medical gloves. used suspects from China, Malaysia to Vietnam.
On 3/12 at Cat Lai port of Ho Chi Minh City, the force of the Southern Anti-Smuggling Control Team (under the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department of the General Department of Customs), and the Customs Branch of the Saigon Port Saigon area 1 of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department in coordination with the Police Department of environmental crime prevention, Ho Chi Minh City Police has checked 2 containers of goods kept here.
It is known that this shipment was imported by Sai Gon Trading Group Medical Equipment Manufacturing and Import Export Company Limited (headquarter of Ward 26, Binh Thanh District). The company’s customs declaration on October 27 said that the shipment was rubber gloves for the kitchen (not medical gloves, not cut, not insulated), without labels. Brand new, 100% new from China, quantity is 5,680kg.
However, through inspection, 2 containers had 1,070 cartons without labels, containing rubber gloves of all kinds, many colors, mixed with dirt and identified as used. The volume is up to tens of tons.
Before that, during the process of customs clearance, at the end of October, enterprises had to present their goods for customs inspection according to the plan. However, in the following days, the unit named for import is Saigon Trading Group Medical Equipment Manufacturing and Import Export Company Limited that did not come to work.
The Customs Branch of Saigon Port Region 1 Border Gate repeatedly sent invitations but representatives of enterprises were not present. Suspecting that there is a problem in the consignment, the above coordinating agencies have conducted the inspection.
In another case, the Environmental Crime Prevention and Control Department is also cooperating with the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department to investigate a shipment of 12 tons of used medical gloves.
Importing unit is Super Antibacterial Mask Medical Material Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (headquarters in Phu Thuan ward, district 7). The goods according to the customs declaration are, 2 containers containing 12 tons of powder-free rubber gloves, size M, without labels, used in food processing and nail salon, 100% new goods from Malaysia.
